Croatia

  • Kalinda and I both had four flights to arrive at Dubrovnik
  • We enjoyed walking around the old city and then around the city on its walls
  • We then sailed for 3 days to the islands off the coast
  • On the islands, we hiked and biked. We were supposed to swim and kayak, but the seas were too rough
  • We climbed the walls of Ston
  • We drove to Split and enjoyed a rainy day touring the old city/palace
  • We then drove inland to Krka National Park to see tons of waterfalls
  • We rafted Zrmanja river in a canyon instead of kayaking due to water being too high.
  • We then drove to Plitvice National Park to see more waterfalls
  • Enjoy the photos :)

Streets in Dubrovnik

Outside the walled city

Really old and not so old together

Everyday things scattered among the sea of red roofs

Sailing on the Adriatic Sea

One of the islands off the coast of Croatia

View of out boat (the one on the left) from the top of the island

It was choppy. Sailing was for those who do not get sea sick. Consistently 2-3 meter waves.

Fun with shadows :) This is our sailboat

Some of the many beautiful roses we saw.

Dinner one night. This is octopus cooked under the bell a traditional fancy dish

Salt at Ston. In the time of Republic of Dubrovnik, salt was as valuable as gold.

Ston had a wall to protect the salt "field" from the people coming from the land onto the peninsula

Present day fishing village

Ston. You can see the wall, the city, and the salt field in the background

Skradin in the distance

Krka National Park

Look at that water color! It gets its color from calcium deposits.

The circle is a washing machine.

Figs. There were so many figs.

Prettiest washing machine

The water was so clear. You can see the grass under the water.

Look closely for the faint rainbow. This is Plitvice National Park

This is deemed the prettiest village in all Croatia. It is built over lots of waterfalls and cascades.

Thank you Croatia for a wonderful vacation!
